Containers, totes & bins

for a variety of logistical requirements

Find the right reusable container from Utz

The right reusable container depends on more than its dimensions. Manual or automated handling, the type of goods being transported, return logistics, industry standards, picking processes and temperature requirements can all influence which container family is the best fit.

Compare Utz container families

Utz manufactures reusable plastic containers for a wide range of storage, transport and intralogistics applications. From versatile Euro containers and automation-focused load carriers to automotive containers, nestable distribution boxes and insulated solutions, each family is designed around different operational requirements.

RAKO – the versatile container for storage and transport

RAKO is the broad all-rounder within the Utz container portfolio. This Euro-dimension container family is designed for a wide variety of storage, transport and internal logistics applications and is particularly useful when flexibility is the main requirement.

A wide choice of sizes, bases, sidewall configurations, handles and accessories makes RAKO suitable for everything from straightforward material storage to organized transport with dividers, lids, labels, locks or protective inserts. Selected base configurations can also be used with conveyor systems.

EUROTEC MOVE – designed for automated intralogistics

When containers need to move reliably through automated storage and material-flow systems, EUROTEC provides interfaces designed specifically for these environments.

The family is suited to conveyor systems, automated warehouses, AS/RS, and robotic handling. Depending on the configuration, features for gripping, lifting, pulling and positioning help provide defined interfaces between the container and handling equipment. Divider and identification options can further adapt the container to the process.

Manual handling remains possible, making EUROTEC suitable for logistics flows that combine automated and manual process stages.

KLT / SLC – standardized small load carriers for automotive logistics

KLT small load carriers are designed around the requirements of automotive manufacturers, suppliers and their logistics networks.

The family includes different container concepts for manual and automatic handling, including variants based on established automotive standards such as VDA 4500. Depending on the application, KLT containers can also be combined with product-specific inserts or component holders to protect parts during transport, storage and production supply.

Different KLT variants address different requirements, so standards of compliance, base construction and handling features should always be considered at product level.

MEDIUM PLUS – larger load carriers for automotive processes

MEDIUM PLUS extends the automotive container portfolio when a conventional small load carrier is not large enough for the application.

The family combines robust construction with features for both manual and automatic handling. Interfaces for automated handling, reinforced corner structures and options for identification or product-specific workpiece carriers make MEDIUM PLUS suitable for different stages of automotive logistics, including flows between suppliers and production environments.

It provides a middle ground between traditional small load carriers and substantially larger transport units.

NESCO – nestable containers for efficient return logistics

Transporting full containers is only one part of a reusable logistics cycle. When empty containers need to return, the space they occupy can become equally important.

NESCO containers are designed to nest when empty, reducing the volume required for return transport and storage. When in use, the container concept supports reusable distribution flows where goods move outward, and empty containers circulate back through the logistics system.

This makes NESCO particularly relevant for distribution, order picking, home-shopping, and other closed-loop applications with frequent empty returns.

SILAFIX – open-front bins for picking and small-parts storage

SILAFIX is designed for a different task from most transport container families: keeping small parts organized and directly accessible at the point of use.

These picking and shelf bins are suited to shelving systems, warehouses, workshops, production areas and spare-parts operations where operators need quick visual and physical access to stored items.

SILAFIX can therefore support structured small-parts storage and manual order-picking processes rather than primarily serving as a closed transport container.

E Performance – reusable containers for meat and food logistics

E Performance is designed for reusable logistics in the meat and food industry, where hygienic handling, traceability, and compatibility with automated processes are important.

The container family uses the 600 × 400 mm footprint and is available in several heights. Features such as in-mould barcode labels support clear container identification, while the container geometry is designed for improved conveyor compatibility. Ventilation openings and surfaces for applying and removing labels further support use across food logistics processes.

E Performance is therefore particularly relevant for meat processing and distribution operations that require reusable food containers with defined identification and automated handling features. Utz catalogue knowledge also identifies E Performance as a dedicated container family for the food industry.

F Performance – system containers for fish logistics

F Performance is designed specifically for the fish supply chain, from handling after the catch through transport and distribution to the point of sale.

The reusable system combines an F Performance container, a perforated insert, and a snap-on lid. In use, the insert separates the fish from accumulating meltwater as ice melts, while the lid helps contain ice and water during transport. The container also includes in-mould barcode labels for identification and is designed to stack with E Performance meat containers.

This makes F Performance particularly suitable for fish logistics where hygienic handling, controlled drainage, identification and compatibility across different stages of the supply chain are key requirements.

POOLBOX – reusable containers for closed-loop transport systems

POOLBOX is designed for logistics systems in which reusable containers circulate repeatedly between defined participants or locations.

The container concept is relevant for service shipments, parcel handling, and other closed-loop applications where containers need to return to the system after delivery. Stack-and-nest characteristics can help make the return of empty containers more space-efficient, while identification and other configuration options can support structured pool operations.

POOLBOX is therefore particularly useful when the container itself becomes a managed part of an ongoing transport cycle rather than packaging for a single journey.

THERMOBOX – insulated containers for temperature-sensitive logistics

Some products require more than mechanical protection during transport. THERMOBOX solutions address logistics processes where maintaining defined temperature conditions is part of the packaging requirement.

These reusable insulated containers are relevant for temperature-sensitive goods in areas such as pharmaceutical, healthcare, and food logistics. Different insulated container concepts and configurations are available depending on the application and required temperature profile.

Because thermal performance depends on the complete configuration and transport conditions, the appropriate THERMOBOX solution should be selected according to the specific temperature and logistics requirements of the application.

Which container family fits your process?

A simple way to narrow the choice is to start with the main requirement:

  • Maximum versatility for general storage and transport: RAKO
  • Automated warehouses and conveyor systems: EUROTEC
  • Standardized automotive small load carriers: KLT / SLC
  • Larger automotive components and loads: MEDIUM PLUS
  • Reduced volume for empty returns: NESCO
  • Small-parts storage and manual picking: SILAFIX
  • Reusable meat and food logistics with traceability and conveyor handling: E Performance
  • Fish logistics with ice, meltwater management and hygienic transport: F Performance
  • Reusable pool and closed-loop distribution: RAKO, EUROTEC or POOLBOX
  • Temperature-sensitive products: THERMOBOX

The final choice can also depend on dimensions, load, handling equipment, internal product protection, identification, cleaning requirements, and other process-specific factors.
